State superintendent candidate visits Valdosta

Searcy recently traveled to Ideal, Georgia. A wonderful small town in rural west central Georgia. As a city girl, I wanted to learn more about the differences in rural education. As the parents in attendance for “Cornhole and Conversations” lined up to talk to me about their education concerns, one thing became abundantly clear. No matter what part of the state, no matter the socio-economic status, parents know our children aren’t getting all they need, teachers are grossly underpaid, and people want change in our education.
